Care: Rinse the device and blade thoroughly under running water after each use. At regular intervals, for example when changing the blade, thoroughly clean the Dermaplaner without blades under clear water. Wipe the blade and blade guard with alcohol to disinfect it. Leaf recommends replacing the blade and blade guard regularly for hygiene reasons - either monthly or after every three uses, whichever comes first.

When refilling the device, there are two parts to replace: a single-edge blade and a blade guard. Open up the head and insert the blade guard first. If the dermaplaner has just been opened for the first time, the blade guard is already installed. Simply place the blade guard with the nubs facing forward and insert the short bend of the guard directly into the slot on the handle. It will snap firmly into place and hold in place by friction. Never use the Leaf Dermaplaner without the blade guard. Next, the steel blade is inserted. Carefully unwrap the blade and line up the non-sharp end with the fold of the blade guard and press forward against the nubs. The blade must fit snugly, so press down on the back of both sides of the blade and make sure it falls along the wall. This is an intentionally tight fit. Now the head of the dermaplaner can be closed. If it closes completely, you are fine. If it stops just short of closing completely, the blade may not have been pushed down far enough. Now flip the head back open and press on both sides of the back of the blade. To remove the blade, reach behind the blade and wedge it out. The blade sits tightly against the back wall, so be careful when removing the blade as it can resist a little. To remove the blade guard, insert a thin object, such as a coin or key, through the back slot. Press out on both sides until it is free and remove the blade guard. If the blade guard is bent or broken, do not reuse it. It is recommended that you only remove the blade guard when you want to refill the dermaplaner with a new blade guard. It is recommended that you refill the dermaplaner every one to three uses, or about once a month - whichever comes first.

To prepare, cleanse your face completely. Either use on dry skin or apply a small amount of shaving oil. If the method is not optimal for your skin, your dermatologist can help. Hold the skin taut and place the blade on the skin at a 45-degree angle. Apply light pressure and use short, downward strokes toward the center of the face. Rinse or wipe the blade if necessary. It is best to take your time and become familiar with the technique. Then rinse the skin and finish with a moisturizer.Warning: Do not use the Dermaplaner without the blade guard.
