The Origins of Heretic: A Perfume Pioneer and His Mission

Since founding Heretic in 2015, Douglas Little has carved out a niche for his bold and unconventional collection of unisex fragrances. The only child of professional photographers, Douglas began training his nose in preschool – his mother would give him a dollar every time he correctly identified lavender or other plant scents.

Years later, Douglas noticed a shift across industries: parabens were being banned in skincare, aluminum in deodorant, GMOs in food. But the fragrance world remained opaque – secretive about ingredients and untouched by reform. That mystery sparked his mission: to create a perfume house that is authentic, sustainable, and radically transparent – from how it’s made to who’s behind it.

How to Wear Heretic Fragrances

Most Heretic scents are made with 100% botanical ingredients – from root to blossom. Natural fragrances tend to be lighter and may fade more quickly than synthetics. That’s why Heretic recommends layering 2 to 3 different scents to create your own personal fragrance composition – like art, worn on skin.
