Byredo was founded in Stockholm in 2006 by Ben Gorham with the aim of translating the feeling of memories and emotions into the form of an everyday product. Born to an Indian mother and a Canadian father, Ben grew up in Toronto, New York and Stockholm. He graduated from Stockholm Art School with a degree in Fine Arts, but a chance encounter with perfumer Pierre Wulff convinced him that he would rather create fragrances than paintings. As an outsider in the beauty industry, he is somewhat of an anomaly and has carved out a unique position for himself in the market for his personal style and connection to fashion and art. In contrast to the typical Scandinavian aesthetic, Byredo clearly bears ethnic influences from Ben's Indian background with a strong connection to creativity, art and lifestyle. Byredo's approach of letting emotions guide creations is expressed through the complete and limitless universe of products. The development of each individual product takes place using only the highest quality materials available and high-quality design details. According to Ben Gorham, creativity enables us to create timeless products that are both meaningful and inspiring for people and their lives. How did Byredo start and where does the brand come from?
Byredo was founded in 2006 by Ben Gorham in Stockholm, Sweden, with one goal in mind. Although he had a degree in fine arts, a chance encounter with perfumer Pierre Wulff convinced him that he wanted to create perfumes rather than acrylic paintings. He started by making candles (in IKEA jars) and soon after began creating perfumes, including the famous Gypsy Water, one of his first perfumes.

Byredo itself describes all of its perfumes as "genderless". They are therefore all unisex.

How long do Byredo perfumes last?
Byredo perfumes last relatively long because they are made from high-quality ingredients. Although they do not use ingredients such as real amber (from sperm whales), which was particularly widely used in perfumery in the past to create particularly long-lasting scents, they can still keep up with these perfumes.
