Björk and Berries: Inspired by the Nature of Sweden

The fragrance brand Björk and Berries was founded in 2006 and is now owned by Isabelle Lewenhaupt and her family. A special place within the brand’s story is the small family farm Fäviken in northern Sweden. It serves as a retreat, an experimental space, and a constant source of inspiration. In a small mountain garden, herbs, berries and selected plants are cultivated, allowing Lewenhaupt and her team to explore new scent ideas and experiment with natural ingredients.

Their work closely follows the rhythm of nature. With each season, the vegetation changes – and with it the possibilities for new olfactory explorations. Long winters, intense summers, and the constant shift between light and darkness illustrate what it truly means to live with the seasons.

Alongside perfumes, the brand also offers body care products and scented candles. These products pick up on the core olfactory themes of the fragrances and translate them into everyday rituals – as hand creams, body washes, or as scents that slowly fill a room. The result is a coherent fragrance universe that extends well beyond classic perfume.

Between Forest, Ritual and Midsummer Night: The Fragrances of Björk and Berries

In line with the brand’s deep connection to nature, the fragrance notes reflect this inspiration. Forests, berry bushes, herbs and the crisp, cool air of the North form the olfactory foundation of many compositions. As a result, the fragrances often feel fresh, slightly green and woody, frequently accompanied by a subtle, natural fruitiness.

A good example is White Forest. The bestseller combines birch with light woods and soft floral accords. The result feels cool and clear – almost like walking through a quiet, frost-covered birch forest.

Mareld explores another facet of Nordic nature. Here, smoky woods and resins meet mineral marine accords. The scent evokes the rugged Scandinavian coastline and captures the mysterious, almost mystical atmosphere of northern landscapes.

For a lighter and fresher interpretation, there is Fjällsjö. Berry accords blend with green and aquatic notes to create a fruity-fresh composition reminiscent of crystal-clear mountain lakes and a cool spring breeze in the Swedish mountains.
