Bidens Pilosa extract is a plant-based retinol alternative that smooths the skin, plumps up wrinkles, stimulates collagen synthesis, and rejuvenates the skin. The plant, also known as Spanish needle, belongs to the daisy family (Asteraceae) and originally comes from South America, but now grows all over the world. It contains the so-called phytanic acid, which can activate the same receptor in the skin as retinol. Once this receptor is activated, the production of collagen and elastin increases, making the skin firmer while reducing inflammation, blemishes, and pigmentation. In contrast to retinol, however, the skin is not irritated, making it particularly suitable for sensitive skin types. Soothing peony-extract is a natural antioxidant that promotes skin clarity, brightens, and tightens it. Its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and nourishing properties act like a barrier that protects the skin, hydrates it, and deeply cleanses.
