Exactly a decade ago, Room 1015 stepped onto the stage for the very first time, rocking the scene with their debut fragrance Electric Wood. Hit after hit followed, and the rebellious approach behind their compositions catapulted the brand into the spotlight of the niche perfume world. Inspired by the musical movements and countercultures of the 90s, Room 1015 stands out with creations that are both experimental and deeply nostalgic. With this winning formula, they’ve continued to make waves, so it only felt natural to return, for their 10th anniversary, to the scent that started it all — and to reinvent it.

Electric Wood Remastered

At the heart of the collection lies Electric Wood Eau de Parfum, born from one of founder Michael Partouche’s most formative memories. One day, his father returned from a business trip to California and surprised eleven-year-old Michael with a brand-new, jet-black Gibson Les Paul Standard. Unaware of what awaited him, he opened the shiny latches of the guitar case with a sharp click and lifted the lid.

What rose to meet him was more than the sight of a masterful instrument. A symphony of aromas filled the air — the warmth of earthy wood, the synthetic lining, the unmistakable lacquer, and the subtle metallic accent of the strings. In that moment, Michael’s passion for music collided for the first time with his love for scent.

The Eau de Parfum captures this memory in olfactory form: a fragrance that reflects both the elements of the guitar case and the emotional warmth of childhood recollections. Electric Wood Extrait takes this original chord progression and amplifies it — as electrifying as plugging in your first guitar, as hot as a bending, distorted solo. The notes are pushed to the limit, delivering a wild, powerful, and deeply emotional performance.

Our Take: Remixed

As is often the case with Eau de Parfum versus Extrait versions, the two differ not only in intensity but in identity.

The Eau de Parfum strikes us as the more laid-back of the pair. Its opening surprises with a sharp contrast: cool, green sage meets the sweet-sour sparkle of lemon and the spicy warmth of nutmeg, creating a metallic edge that tingles like crisp air in your lungs. The heart settles into a timeless blend of cedar and oak, with a smoky nuance humming in the background. In the base, Ambroxan, iris, and musk leave behind a skin-close warmth, like a soft drone fading into silence.

To us, this scent recalls that hard-to-describe “outdoors” smell — the one that clings to hair and clothes after a cool autumn day. Authentic, effortless, and comforting, the EDP feels perfectly suited as an everyday fragrance for the colder months.

By contrast, the Extrait is a much richer composition. Cardamom, saffron, and nutmeg blaze together in the opening — a fiery trio of spices. The sweetness fuses with saffron’s metallic edge, creating a syrupy density reminiscent of glowing steel. In the heart, balsamic myrrh and earthy oakmoss deepen the intensity, softened by buttery iris. The base amplifies the smoky-woody character of cedar with cypriol and vetiver, drenched in decadent vanilla. Many of these notes overlap in texture, blending into a blurred effect that initially makes Electric Wood Extrait seem elusive, hard to define. The word that comes to mind: liqueur. Sweet and warming, yet intoxicating, it envelops like a velvet haze. For us, this Extrait shines brightest on freezing winter nights, when all you crave is a thick blanket and the radiator turned up high.

Whether as a homage to moments past or a companion for new stories yet to unfold, Electric Wood Extrait invites you to let go and savor the moment to the fullest.
