Hightide was founded in June 1994 in Fukuoka, on the island of Kyūshū, where sea, wind and everyday life sit closely side by side. Its beginnings are often told as a classic origin story: two friends, one idea. That idea was to create products you want to use, not just look at. Stationery as a functional tool – reduced to the essentials, with a clear sense of purpose and detail. The name follows the same mindset. High tide refers to the moment when the sea reaches its highest point. Hightide sees this as a metaphor for mental fulfilment – a state in which everything you need is there. The brand translates this idea into products that make work and everyday life calmer, more ordered and a little more complete, not through optimisation at any cost, but exactly where you truly feel the difference.
