Toskovat: More than just a fragrance

Founded in 2021 by the creative mind David-Lev Jipa-Slivinschi, the brand Toskovat emerged from a deeply personal origin. The founder and perfumer confronted his own trauma, questions of identity, and the transience of life. From this stance grew an olfactory body of work that seeks less to please than to provoke a response.

The brand’s mission is clear: the fragrances are meant to express what can hardly be put into words. They convey emotions that are not explained but felt. Memory, fear, closeness, loss, or shame are not abstracted, but made concrete and tangible. The vision is a perfume culture that places emotional honesty above agreeableness and invites wearers to face their own sensations rather than conceal them.

Born from the desire to make emotions accessible without filtration, the brand deliberately positions itself outside classical ideals of beauty. The compositions are not designed merely to be worn.

The fragrances resist quick categorisation. They are often densely composed, working with unusual contrasts and deliberately placed ruptures. Metallic, medical, or animalic facets meet sweet, creamy, or almost innocent accords. Many creations unfold slowly and change perceptibly over the course of hours. What may feel unwieldy or irritating at first can later reveal itself as intimate, warm, or unexpectedly comforting. The fragrances remain close to the skin; some confront directly.
