Empty Wishes Well – Eau de Parfum – 60ml

At the end of our street stood a small ornamental fountain. I remember how beautiful it was back then. The narrow strips of meadow were scattered with colorful wildflowers, the air threaded with the hum of bees. Birds perched on the delicate stucco, preening their feathers in the cool mist of the water. I fished a slightly tarnished cent from the pocket of my overalls and clumsily flicked it into the basin – just like the grown-ups always did. When the coin pierced the surface, it rang out with a bright splash, and I squeezed my eyes shut. What I wished for, I kept to myself. Wishes are not meant to be told. My eyes remained closed. An eternity passed – it felt like half a lifetime. When I opened them again, everything had changed. The meadows were overgrown, the paths swallowed by weeds. No humming, no splashing. The once pale stone of the fountain had turned gray. Only the coin still lay at the bottom, dull and motionless. My reality had lost its color. Yet between the cracks in the marble, moss was growing. Unobtrusive, silent. And it is precisely where something breaks that something new begins.
